Vista Privilegiada /
Privileged View

Vista Privilegiada / Privileged View was created during Quarantine’s residency at MITsp – São Paulo International Theatre Festival.  The residency took place at Centro Cultural São Paulo from 9th February to 11th March 2020.

Featuring the faces of 41 people who happened to be there while we filmed, the piece was part of an exhibition on 7th & 8th March, marking the residency’s end.

Titled Eye to Eye: Who Gets to Be Seen in São Paulo Today? The project explored visibility in the city, using the centre as a frame. We collaborated with 10 local Brazilian artists and translator Julie. The film was made in collaboration with Danilo Circa de Souza and Deborah Pinto.

The film has no sound—each person appears for about two minutes—allowing viewers to watch listening to their own music, or in silence.

With thanks to MITsp, the British Council, Centro Cultural São Paulo, and everyone who took part.
